On Friday, September 1st, 2023, Sleep in Heavenly Peace Build a Bed gathered volunteers in the NRV to raise money and build beds for children in the community. Thanks to the volunteers and donors, $15,000 was donated to the Sleep in Heavenly Peace organization, and 50 beds were built. Some of Citizens’ very own showed up to donate their time. Donna Smith, Tina Osborne, Elizabeth Dorsett, and Jeff Shepherd volunteered to cut lumber, sand, assemble, and paint to produce beds for children in the New River Valley. “It was very heartwarming to participate in this worthwhile event,” stated Donna Smith, Citizens GM & CEO.
