Managing bandwidth usage for streaming services

With the upgrade to CitiZip Fiber service, you may notice an increase in your bandwidth usage. This is because, by default, most streaming services will deliver the highest quality video stream that your device and connection will support. If you find that you are exceeding Data Usage Plan, you can upgrade at any time through your Citizens E-Care account or by calling our office. We also suggest that you review and adjust the quality settings on your streaming devices to avoid overages. Keep in mind, there are NO DATA CAPS should you exceed your Data Usage Plan. We will NOT interrupt or cut off your service or ability to access the internet. Your usage overage will be billed at $5 per 50GB over your plan.

Below you can find information on changing the video quality on some of the popular streaming services.

Netflix

Once you have logged into your Netflix account you can adjust the video quality by going to your account page and then going to "Playback Settings". More information can be found at the Netflix Help Center.

Hulu

Once your video is playing select the "Settings Gear Icon" in the player controls and select the video quality you want to stream the video in. More information about Hulu's data usage can be found on Hulu Help Center.

Amazon Video

Once your video is playing select the "Settings Gear Icon" in the top right corner of the video player select the video quality you want to stream the video in. More information about Amazon's data usage can be found in Amazon's Help & Customer Service page.
