Unlike the large, commercial telephone companies, Citizens Telephone Cooperative is a nonprofit operation. By being a member of Citizens, you have ownership in the company. You will receive notice of new products and services, voting powers by proxy, and an invitation to attend the annual meeting. In addition, you may get money back from your Telephone Cooperative each year.
How can I get money back from the Cooperative?
Any revenue in excess of expenses is credited back to you, our member. The allocation is based on the amount of revenue that can be attributed to you during the year. These capital credits are retained as operating capital. Periodically, if the financial condition of the company warrants, the Cooperative refunds a portion of these capital credits.
What if I move out of the area?
Capital credits are one thing that makes your membership so valuable. Should you move from our service area, keep us informed of your new address. Doing so will insure your receipt of your share of capital credits.
