Jeff is responsible for the installation and troubleshooting of our phone, network, and video headend equipment. Lately, his focus is on the installation of the network equipment that supports our VDSL and fiber to the home deployments. He also tests and replaces batteries that keep our equipment up and operational during power outages.
What is your favorite thing to do on your off time?
On many evenings and weekends, you will find me officiating on a high school or youth basketball court, softball/baseball field, or football field. My favorite sport is high school basketball.
How do you plan to use your Volunteer Time Off?
I am using the majority of my volunteer hours at the Roanoke Rescue Mission.
What is the secret to a good life?
Knowing Jesus. He came to give life and give it abundantly.
What is the scariest thing you’ve ever done for fun?
I like the adventure of short-term missions such as volunteering for Samaritans Purse Disaster Relief or visiting church plants overseas. In 2005 I had the opportunity to visit churches throughout the Balkans. I had to cross the border from Macedonia to Serbia. The serious-looking guards did not know English and were equipped with submachine guns. This was a pretty intimidating situation as they studied my passport, considering that it had only been a few years since the United States had bombed their country. What I found was the Serbian people had more of a dislike for the president who was in office at the time of the bombing versus disliking Americans as a whole.

Visit Israel.
Are you into podcasts or do you only listen to music?
I listen to a few podcasts. I find the Kris Vallotton, Shawn Bolz, and Dave Ramsey podcasts to be inspiring. In terms of music, I listen to modern praise and worship with some of my favorites being Bethel, Jesus Culture Music, Kim Walker-Smith, and Jonathan & Melissa Helser.
Tell us about a pet peeve you have.
People who block the intersection when traffic is backed up and prevent you from turning when your light is green.
Have you ever disliked something and then changed your mind?
I was made to eat sauerkraut as a kid and hated it. And then one day I was installing DSL Internet service once around lunchtime. I had a customer insist that I eat lunch with them, even after declining multiple times. They made me a Reuben sandwich which is composed of corned beef, swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and thousand island dressing. I now enjoy making Reuben sandwiches and other recipes at home with sauerkraut.
