Joy Gardner, Business Development Account Executive

Joy begins each day with a dedication to customer service. She quickly responds to business customers and actively seeks new businesses to support with Citizens’ services.  Many of her clients have multiple locations needing to be linked together to create one business network.  That network allows them to connect multiple computers,  hosted (or IP based) phones, security/surveillance equipment, and WiFi Access Points to cover their properties both locally and globally.  From the initial order to the final install, Joy works with all departments at Citizens to make her customers happy.   Joy truly enjoys working one-on-one with her customers and her team here at Citizens, and many of them have become close friends over the past 20 years of working together.

What is your favorite thing to do on your off time?

Working with my flowers, sharing plants with friends, or taking rides on the motorcycle through our beautiful mountain roads.

What is a little known fact about you?

I have a motorcycle license.

Are you into podcasts or do you only listen to music? What do you listen to and why?

I love music and listen to Spotify primarily.  I have created several of my own stations with “kick back and relax” options with songs from Jack Johnson, Colbie Caillat, Michael Buble to an “Island Tunes” playlist with songs from Zach Brown, Kenny Chesney and Jimmy Buffet.

What is your favorite thing about your home?

My front porch and my flower beds.  I have a swing bed that Eli Yoder made for me several years ago, and I love having company come over and walk around my yard, share plants and then sit and relax with me on the porch.

What was the last show you binge-watched?  What made it interesting?

Little Fires Everywhere. It was a look inside the life of two very different families and how they misunderstood each other’s lives.

What is the secret to a good life?

Thanking God for all the blessings you have been given! And sharing His love with your friends and family.

What’s the scariest thing you’ve ever done for fun?

Taking a Motorcycle Class with my husband and 2 boys.  Out of 20 students, I was the ONLY girl in the class!  But I passed with flying colors and I have my license to drive any 2, 3 or 4 wheeled vehicle – legally!

Tell us about something on your bucket list.

To visit as many countries as I can.  I love to meet new people and experience other cultures.

Tell us about a pet peeve you have.

People that put on airs.  Don’t try to be something you are not.  God only made ONE YOU.  You don’t have to live up to anyone else’s standards or expectations.

What makes you feel most alive?

Playing with my granddaughter!  It makes me appreciate the small things in life like catching butterflies and finding treasures on long walks in the woods.  AND Dirt Therapy!  I love digging in the dirt and planting, sharing, and moving plants around in my yard
