Gary Biggs, Broadband Technician

At Citizens, Gary’s workday is never the same from one day to the next. One day, he may be installing Gigabit Internet via fiber, and the next he could be solving a trouble on plain old telephone service. This is one of the things he likes about his job; it is never the same. He also enjoys being outside the majority of the day.

What is your favorite thing about your home?

My basement is my favorite thing about my home. I like it because it’s where I do my hobbies.

What is a little known fact about you?

I have a small collection of vintage chainsaws and axes. My most prized collectible is a hatchet from the 1930s.

What is the secret to a good life?

Spending as much time as you can with the ones you love. Try not to worry about what seems to be a problem, in a little time it’s probably no big deal anyway. Treat others nice and respectful even if they are not that way with you.

Have you ever disliked something and then changed your mind?

When I was a kid we had green peas so much I grew to dislike them. Over the last couple years I have found that I like them again.

Tell us about something on your bucket list.

To forge a knife from a piece of steel in a coal-fired forge. I like the old ways of doing things and I like to do things with my hands.
