Sunset Frequently Asked Questions

The TechHome/TechShield PC Protection package that includes SecureIT is being discontinued effective March 31, 2026. All the complementary and underlying products in the security suite (FileHopper, Password Genie, and mobile versions of FileHopper, SecureIT, and Password Genie) will dissolve effective December 31, 2025.

NRTC has made the difficult decision to discontinue its security suites due to the availability of many solid competitive solutions and the general decline in utilization of the software. While TechShield, Tech Home & SecureIT products have served a significant customer need over the past 20+ years, the evolution of the market has led them to shift their resources to strengthen other managed solutions and develop new solutions to meet customer needs.

Existing users can keep their current product entitlements until the product end-of-life dates have been reached. Here are some key dates:

  • Nov 1, 2025: Product support hours will be updated to M-F, 8 AM-7 PM Eastern. Anyone who calls after hours can leave a message and receive a call back later.
  • Dec 31, 2025: The following software/apps and services will stop working, and personal data within the app will be deleted: FileHopper (computer & mobile), Password Genie (computer & mobile), SecureIT (mobile only) & TotalTech (premium tech support)
  • Mar 31, 2026: SecureIT will stop working, and all in-app data will be deleted.

While many devices come with built-in software protection, as do products offered by retailers.
