Like all of the technicians at Citizens, Brandon’s days vary drastically. Some days he may have a planned install or other appointments with customers. Other days he may be working trouble tickets for customers who need help resolving issues. The scope of his work includes installing and maintaining residential and commercial alarm systems, surveillance systems, access controls systems, and medical alert systems. He also designs these systems and prepares quotes for customers.
What is your favorite thing to do on your off time?
In my time off I really enjoy traveling and doing things outdoors such as hiking, fishing, and hunting. I also enjoy photography as a hobby. Feel free to check out some of my work: https://www.facebook.com/brandonwilliamsphotography/
What is a little known fact about you?
I used to be on a jam skating team. Long story short, jam skating is dancing on roller skates. I can skate forwards, backwards, sideways, and do all kinds of tricks. If you have never seen the movie Roll Bounce, then I would highly recommend it as it is a fantastic movie, and it has some incredible jam skating in it.
How do you use or plan to use VTO?
I am hoping to be able to use my VTO to assist with some projects that the Floyd Initiative for Safe Housing (FISH) is doing. I agree with their mission that everyone deserves safe, accessible, and affordable housing.
What is your favorite thing about your home?
My favorite thing about my home is living there with my wife. She is very good at decorating and making it feel very homey. Also, just a couple of months ago we purchased our very first home, so this is the first place we have been able to truly call home.
Are you into podcasts or do you only listen to music? What do you listen to and why?
I listen to almost all genres of music, however, I lean more towards rock, metal, and hip hop. I also really like Christian hip hop music, (If you have never heard of Andy Mineo or Lacrae than I would highly recommend looking them up.)
As far as podcasts go, I am a bit of a science and “big idea” lover. Some of my favorites are: Hidden Brain, Ted Talks, and Brain Stuff.
What do you remember most about your first job?
I worked at Slaughters Supermarket for my first job. I actually really enjoyed bagging groceries and helping customers carry them out to their vehicles.
Tell us about a pet peeve you have.
A big pet peeve is when people interrupt me or someone else when we are trying to tell a story or explain something. You have to learn to relax, be patient, and be respectful.
Tell us about something on your bucket list. Why do you want to do that?
I want to visit as many artisanal/craft (NOT Starbucks) coffee shops as I can. I am a coffee enthusiast and I really enjoy the atmosphere that coffee shops provide. Shout out to Red Rooster in Floyd: Out of all the coffee shops I have been to, I can proudly say that my favorite coffee is located here in my hometown!
